Ferroalloy Plant Has Been Launched in Karaganda

A plant of YDD Corporation LLP for the production of ferrosilicon has been launched in Karaganda. It was built under the financial support of a subsidiary of “Baiterek” National Managing Holding JSC, the Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC.

The opening ceremony involved participation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Askar Mamin, the Chairman of the Board of Baiterek Holding, Aidar Arifkhanov, Akim of Karaganda Oblast, Yerlan Koshanov, the Chairman of the Board of DBK, Abai Sarkulov.

The total cost of the project amounted to 34 billion 150 million tenge, including 24 billion 120 million tenge provided by the DBK as a loan for a period of 11 years under the State Program for Industrial and Innovative Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2015-2019. The borrowed funds are designated for construction and installation works, including the construction of buildings and structures, as well as the purchase, supply and installation of equipment.

- This project is a key one in the field of metals industry, it is attractive for investors, and is more relevant than ever, since it meets the main tasks set out by the country's senior-most officials: development of domestic exports and expansion of the existing sales markets. The plant’s manufactured products are 100% export oriented. At the same time, it is worth noting that the share of the Kazakhstani content in the production will be more than 94%, - noted the founder of YDD Corporation LLP, Yerlan Nigmatulin.

- The main volume of ferrosilicon, which is one of the most important elements in steel production and alloying, is planned to be delivered to Russia, Turkey, South Korea, the USA and the EU countries. The project has an important social effect; more than 350 new jobs will be created at the plant under the first stage. In the future, upon increase in the capacity of the plant, over 200 jobs will appear. It should be noted that the latest advanced equipment has been installed at the plant, operation of which requires a high professionalism of employees. I would also like to note that the financing of the project was started only last year. The participants and the top management of the company have ensured not only the high-quality construction of the plant, but also the timely plant commissioning. The plant was built within record timeline of 1 year and 11 months, - Abai Sarkulov stressed out in his time.

Great attention has been also drawn to the environmental component of the project. As of today, it is one of the most environmentally friendly enterprises. In particular, the gas treatment system will ensure a high level of air purification from industrial dust with its further processing into microsilicasuspension, a component that is used in the construction industry for the production of high-quality cements.
