The Business Council “Kazakhstan – Spain” arranged by “Baiterek” Holding gave a new impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation in the business field. What are the specific results of the negotiations?
- The forum was attended by more than 40 leading Spain and 60 Kazakhstan companies.
- The trade volume between Kazakhstan and Spain increased by 20% in 2017 and amounts to 1 billion 700 million US dollars - this is a big field for further development.
- Kazakhstan party proposes the implementation of joint projects in machine engineering and technology transfer, transport and infrastructure, energy and environment, agriculture and the food industry.
- Kazakhstan intends to diversify the export to Spain by promoting the goods of the manufacturing sector.
- Spain places the expectations with the projects implemented through the mechanisms of public-private partnership.
- The Spanish textiles, railway service technologies, special projects in the field of defense industry have already taken their place in the market of Kazakhstan, but the oil and gas industry remains the main activity of the Spanish business.
- Following the results of the Council meeting, “Baiterek” Holding signed three memorandums on cooperation with Spanish state and private organizations.
- Memorandum of “Baiterek” Holding and the investment company COFIDES is aimed at the projects in the field of telecommunications, tourism, agro-food industry and green energy.
- Kazakhstan Project Preparation Fund (a subsidiary of “Baiterek” Holding) and “E-Zhasyl” LLP intend to build nine disposal plants in Kazakhstan for a total amount of 150 million euros.
- Final negotiations on construction of disposal plants in nine regions of the country will be started in spring next year, among the first projects are facilities in Almaty, Shymkent, Aktobe and Atyrau.
- State support of investment projects with the participation of foreign companies will be provided in KZT.
